Bob Clift Memorial Rides 2025 — Ride Report

Report by David Matthews on the Bob Clift Memorial Cheshire Cycleway Rides held on Sunday 18th May 2025.

Created by Bob Clift, the 150 mile Cheshire Cycleway was originally established in 1986. This event celebrates Bob’s memory, with two shorter rides — a 50 mile western route and an 80 mile eastern route — starting and finishing at Duddon Village Hall near Tarporley.

This was the first time the Eastern leg was run, with organiser Rob Wardle of Watson’s Wanderers providing major input alongside Dave Robertson.

42 riders started the 50 mile event (oversubscribed at 52 entries) and all finished safely. 26 of 31 entered riders started the 80 mile event, all finishing safely in glorious weather.

Many thanks to Rob Wardle, Allan & Lynne Samuel, Dave Robertson, Andy Whitgreave and Margaret Matthews for their support.

Tentative date for 2026: Sunday 31st May.
